So far, Aishwarya Rai has served us one film named Raavan in 2010. The film, contrary to overwhelming speculations, fell flat on the box office lending her a rare flop. Critics slammed her for her screams and shrieks while Abhishek was anything but scary. However, Aishwarya scorched the Cannes Film Festival with her graceful presence as she flaunted a mix of Indian and western attires, lending the prestigious carpet a touch of modernity with a hint of classy ethics.
So, the report card of Ash can be presented as:

There were hundreds of stories floating on how cinematographer-cum-filmmaker Rajeev Menon, who made Kandukondein Kandukondein with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Tabu, and Sapne with Kajol, was supposedly doing an Abhimaan kind of a flick with Ash and hubby Abhishek.

It is now being rumoured that though Rajeev was in queue before filmmaker Mani Ratnam, who used the Ash-Abhi combo for Raavan, the superstar couple gave Mani preference over Rajeev.

But now it’s said that after the debacle of Raavan, the Rajeev film may not take off because the trade would much rather see Aishwarya romance other heroes, and Abhishek serenade Katrina or Kareena.

Marriage needs adjustment: Ash

Three years after they married, Junior Bachchan and wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are still very much in love.

Asked how she knew Abhishek was ‘the one’, the former Miss World and actress says, “You know, it’s weird, but the moment we got together, it was a sense of coming home. Like I would have been surprised if we didn’t.”

Do they make compromises in their marriage? During an interview to a magazine, Abhishek said, “I don’t look upon any of it as compromise. The fact that she is in my life and I am married to her is of more importance and happiness to me than anything that I could possibly compromise on.” Adds Ash, “I think marriage takes for adjustment, not compromise, and it means doing all that you need to do to commit to your relationship. If there is anything that makes you feel like it’s a compromise, that means there is an area of discomfort, and that means there’s already something unsettling. But why talk of marriage and compromise? Life asks for adjustments and you do that. You are like water—you find your fit. You look upon life like that, why necessarily compartmentalise marriage?”

Katrina Kaif vs Aishwarya Rai: Glamour scores Over Beauty

June 21st, 2010

By Jilawatan

With the release of 2010’s two most talked about films-Rajneeti and Raavan, the cat is out of the bag as to who is the reigning queen of Bollywood- Aishwarya Rai or Katrina Kaif? Katrina Kaif’s Rajneeti has been one of the most acclaimed films of the year 2010 till now while Aishwarya Rai’s one day old Raavan is already facing the thrashings of the critics and the stabbings by the viewers.
Aishwarya’s ride on the ten headed monster was short lived as it was beheaded as soon as it came out of its dungeon since it failed to provide the other riders the topsy-turvy they were expecting. While Katrina’s political ride managed to swing over Abhishek’s sweetheart.
While Rajneeti portrayed the glamorous doll of Bollywood as a woman clad in sari and giving speech to win votes as her people, Raavan saw the stunning beauty queen as Ragini who is tortured by the goon Beera, beautifully displaying the battle which goes on between a woman’s heart and a wife’s mind.

They are the most sought after onscreen and offscreen couple and individual stars, but Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan say they would never rate each other professionally.

Having worked in six films together, the couple is going to rub shoulders again for Mani Ratnam’s upcoming movie Raavan and analysing each other at work is the last thing on their mind.

“We don’t rate each other. We just like working with each other as co-actors,” Aishwarya, 36, said via telepresence from Mumbai late Friday night.

“Abhishek is a very free actor. He breaks himself free. He works as a team member and doesn’t act as a male lead or anything of that sort (on work),” added the former Miss World-turned-actress, who was wearing a white salwar kameez and a pink dupatta.

“He is a team mate fulfilling his director’s vision in every which manner he can and a pleasure to work with,” she added.

Aishwarya Rai defended by Vivek Oberoi in IIFA ceremony: Boldness or sensibleness?

It’s no surprise that Vivek Oberoi’s ex flame Aishwarya Rai didn’t show up at the IIFA Awards 2010 as her father-in-law himself had sidelined the show owing to protests and turmoil despite him being the brand ambassador.
But when a certain Salman Khan spat sarcasm at Amitabh, Abhishek and Aishwaray Rai Bachchan for not supporting the people in times of adversity, Vivek directly defended them even boldly taking their names.
Speaking to the reporters, Vivek went outspoken and said,
“You have to respect the fact that people have work for which they sometimes cannot turn up at events. It happens to each one of us. I know everyone wanted to see the Bachchan family in Colombo. They are being missed by the people of Sri Lanka as well as by everyone of us. Abhishek and Aishwarya have a film up for release and, trust me, there is a lot of work and stress during a release (of Raavan). So, give them a respite. I’m sure they would be missing being here too.”

The film ‘Raavan’ has been a great advent adventurous experiences for the cast and crew, connected with it.
The most amazing shots, were taken by the director Mani Ratnam, by making on the spot decisions, which to the surprise of everyone, no one could avoid or dare to even back out.
Reportedly, there were many instances in the movie, where the director had asked his actors to do an on the spot jump or climb or wade through muddy water or some bizarre action sequence.
One such shot taken on the spur of the moment, was when the cast and crew were at the Athirapally waterfalls in Kerala. The director instantly decided to make the actors, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and hubby Abhishek, who kidnaps Ash in the flick, climb the slippery slopes of the waterfall.
Most surprisingly, Aishwarya and Abhishek, who were not perturbed by anything that the director asked for, readily agreed to go ahead, with the ‘on the spot ‘decision of the director, and climbed the slippery turf of the waterfall.
The slopes were extremely dangerous to climb, and the fact that there was a lot of moss made matters worse.
