AISHWARYA RAI BACHCHAN AND KATE WINSLET TOGETHER IN COMMERCIAL

Both actresses are celebrity ambassadors for L’Oreal and it is said that an internationally acclaimed director will be brought in to shoot the commercials in Italy.

Aishwarya says that she has always admired Kate Winslet’s work and looks forward to working with the Titanic actress.

Some believe that this commercial will be the beginning of L’Oreal’s plans to move Aishwarya to a market targeted towards the over 30 demographic. This comes after the actress turned down an offer to endorse a skin lightening cream for beauty product company. Sonam Kapoor was then offered the part of brand ambassador instead.

Aishwarya’s working relationship with them began in 2003 and has appeared in commercials for L’Oreal products like shampoo, hair colour, lipstick and mascara. Many believe that she is versatile in her appearance, increasing her worldwide presence, thus the adverts have been dubbed into Italian and have been presented to the Mediterranean market.

There were hundreds of stories floating on how cinematographer-cum-filmmaker Rajeev Menon, who made Kandukondein Kandukondein with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Tabu, and Sapne with Kajol, was supposedly doing an Abhimaan kind of a flick with Ash and hubby Abhishek.

It is now being rumoured that though Rajeev was in queue before filmmaker Mani Ratnam, who used the Ash-Abhi combo for Raavan, the superstar couple gave Mani preference over Rajeev.

But now it’s said that after the debacle of Raavan, the Rajeev film may not take off because the trade would much rather see Aishwarya romance other heroes, and Abhishek serenade Katrina or Kareena.

Hi da hi my dimsums! How’s the tadakti Tuesday morning treating you? I’m still feeling a little under the weather. Anyway jasoos from Juhu dropped in, claiming to have a scooplet on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Seems she was banking on Mani Ratnam’s Raavan a lot… and is very disappointed that it bombed.
So? Khabru states that Ashji has all her hopes pinned on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish now, and is keeping her fingers crossed for it to undo all the damage.

Seems she’s maha pleased with her role and feels it will work wonders, just the way Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam did.

Ash friends with Mrs Mani

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has always been known to strike up a very special bond with all her directors’ wives. During Umrao Jaan, she got along famously with Mrs Bindiya J P Dutta. She bonded with similar warmth with Mrs Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra during delhi-6, although only her husband starred in it, and with Mrs Ashutosh Gowariker during Jodhaa-Akbar.

The latest person she’s gotten close to is none other than Suhasini Mani Ratnam. Says Aishwarya, “Both Abhishek and I are very close to Mani and Suhasini. When we got married, Mani started calling me kanna. I would address Mani as Mani sir and his wife as Suhasini ma’am. But somewhere, as time passed, the walls dissolved. Today, our rapport is not about, what’s our next film, it’s about, what’s the next stage in our bonding?”

Ash’s not Mumtaz yet

Talking of Raavan, how can the conversation be complete without any mention of Sita, remarks Rapchik Rajni as she saunters into my boudoir.

Matlab? Meaning, she says that she has some scooplet on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. And the point is that the actress hasn’t yet been finalised for Sir Ben Kinsley’s magnum opus on Taj Mahal. Never mind if Akbar Khan has tried and failed with his hocus-focus, Kinsley sir will be playing Shah Jahan in his costume extravaganza and was reportedly keen on Ashji to play Mumtaz Mahal.

Rajni claims to have got it from Ben saab himself that he’s only confirmed the casting for Zardari Begum so far, but isn’t telling yet. So whether Ashji will play his Mumtaz Mahal or not is something we’re all waiting to watch.

Marriage needs adjustment: Ash

Three years after they married, Junior Bachchan and wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan are still very much in love.

Asked how she knew Abhishek was ‘the one’, the former Miss World and actress says, “You know, it’s weird, but the moment we got together, it was a sense of coming home. Like I would have been surprised if we didn’t.”

Do they make compromises in their marriage? During an interview to a magazine, Abhishek said, “I don’t look upon any of it as compromise. The fact that she is in my life and I am married to her is of more importance and happiness to me than anything that I could possibly compromise on.” Adds Ash, “I think marriage takes for adjustment, not compromise, and it means doing all that you need to do to commit to your relationship. If there is anything that makes you feel like it’s a compromise, that means there is an area of discomfort, and that means there’s already something unsettling. But why talk of marriage and compromise? Life asks for adjustments and you do that. You are like water—you find your fit. You look upon life like that, why necessarily compartmentalise marriage?”

Salman can’t stand Ash with Abhi

While the entire team of ‘Ready’ went to see ‘Raavan’ screening in Sri Lanka, Salman Khan preferred to give it a miss. The reason given by Sallu miya is that he did not want to hurt the Tamil sentiments that are already furious over him for shooting in Sri Lanka. But the actual reason behind not turning up for the event is his ex flame Aishwarya Rai, he could not stand Aishwarya Rai Bachchan with Abhishek Bachchan.
Says a source, “Initially Salman did show interest in the film. But then when it was time to accompany the rest of the Ready unit Salman opted out because of the controversial nature of the subject and also the fact that he has earned the wrath of the Tamilians by embracing endorsing and visiting Sri Lanka twice in a month.”
When the crew asked him to accompany them, he did not join them. They were quite excited to watch the movie but Salman Khan was not seen in upbeat mood. Director Mahesh Manjrekar confirms Salman’s absence, “We had a good time. Wish Salman accompanied us.”
Its not only Ash but he did not watch any of Katrina’s movie till date because he does not want her wearing skimpy clothes and loving her co-actors.
Well, that’s why he is said to be a very possessive boyfriend.

‘Ash didn’t deserve 4cr!’

It is just three months to the Commonwealth Games 2010 in New Delhi, and former Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mani Shankar Aiyar has raised his voice further against the “enormous waste of money on India’s biggest sporting event to which the poor won’t have access at all”. Mani, who is all in favour of the same money being spent on anti-poverty and welfare measures, has now voiced shrill disapproval about the organising committee’s “obsession with Bollywood” on his blog. Speaking from his past experience of the Commonwealth Games 2006 in Melbourne, Mani says that crores of rupees were offered to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who surely didn’t need that money.
