Endhiran unit waiting for Ash!

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been critically appreciated for her roles in Mani Ratnam’s Raavan and Raavanan.

The audience feedback in Chennai on her performance is that she is mesmerising and has come out with an award-winning performance. According to many, her on-screen chemistry with Vikram in the Tamil version crackled. Now that the hype and hoopla surrounding the release of Raavan is over, everybody is eagerly looking forward to her next release in Tamil, Endhiran (Robot), with Superstar Rajinikanth.

Director Shankar wrote in his blog, “Well… except one song, the shooting of the whole film (Endhiran) is complete. The full edited film has been given to A R Rahman for background score and Resul Pookutty for the sound effects. Just waiting to shoot the last song, the computer graphics work of the climax and some important scenes to be completed.”

Sometimes the media over-reacts to certain things happening in and around the vaporous world. Exaggeration recent episode was the Bachchan Bahu. I’m sure you know about your stories of pregnancy, but rumors of doom that never seem to get enough. Grapevine says thatAishwarya Rai Bachchan is pregnant.

The gossip began after she was seen with a baby once, while promoting their upcoming release ravan with her husband Abhishek Bachchan. The news is to do the trick The actress, who is known for her perfect figure, put a lot of weight, particularly in the abdomen.

However, the Bachchans have not announced the good news yet. They had flown before a newspaper for falsely reporting that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan could conceive due to tuberculosis of the stomach.

“These are small things. Fortunately, because of my family and upbringing, I have a strong support system so these things do not matter in the larger picture. In terms of what is happening such as productive work and moving forward in my journey, it does not matter. Fame is directly related to the kind of support and appreciation you have from your audience. The love and support I have from my audience is so immense and huge that this percentage of negativity is so minimal. So it loses its importance in my life,” she says wisely.

Raavan brought together Tejaswini Kolhapure and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and the actresses reconnected after a long time.

Tejaswini gushes, “I was working with Ash again after our modelling days and it was great. She is just as warm as she was earlier, still loves to talk and is extremely helpful. We chatted like our old days. We spoke about our common friends, colleagues and how fashion has changed over the years as well as the shoots that we had done together,” she adds. Charmed by Ash’s professionalism, Tejaswini could not stop raving about her. “There was a scene where I had to drag her along with the rest of the people and she had to hold herself back and she performed like a tigress. In order to cope with her, I had to drag her even harder but at the back of my head all I could think of was I hope I don’t hurt her by mistake,” remembers Tejaswini.

In her latest film Raavan in Hindi and Raavanan in Tamil, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan plays Ragini, the wife of a police officer who is abducted.

It’s a role which involved working in tough terrain, heavy rains and amongst creatures of the jungle. In this interview, she speaks about her role, the challenges of working in a bilingual and her co-artists. Excerpts of a teleconference.

All about your character in Raavan and Raavanan
There has been a lot of talk that my character is based on a modern day Sita from “Ramayan”, which is not true. I think all the stories can be drawn parallel to our epics because at the end it is all about inter-personal relationship. My character Ragini is Mani’s perception of this strong willed woman abducted by Beera. And the story is about the dynamics between the three characters- Beera, Dev and Ragini.

They are the most sought after onscreen and offscreen couple and individual stars, but Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan say they would never rate each other professionally.

Having worked in six films together, the couple is going to rub shoulders again for Mani Ratnam’s upcoming movie Raavan and analysing each other at work is the last thing on their mind.

“We don’t rate each other. We just like working with each other as co-actors,” Aishwarya, 36, said via telepresence from Mumbai late Friday night.

“Abhishek is a very free actor. He breaks himself free. He works as a team member and doesn’t act as a male lead or anything of that sort (on work),” added the former Miss World-turned-actress, who was wearing a white salwar kameez and a pink dupatta.

“He is a team mate fulfilling his director’s vision in every which manner he can and a pleasure to work with,” she added.

Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan serves another ace with Steffi Graf and Mary Pierce

It seems actor Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan is now looking to stamp her presence over the tennis court. Recently, Aishwarya was specially invited to France to dine with two of the most attractive women tennis players to have walked the sporting pitch — Steffi Graf and Mary Pierce. Aishwarya bonded with both of them at the charity dinner and the trio spoke about tennis, Bollywood and even world movies.

After the event, Pierce was so overwhelmed to meet Aishwarya that she invited her to come to her Mauritius villa along with her family and friends for a vacation. Sources say Aishwarya graciously accepted the request.

In this special event, Aishwarya was the guest of honour to felicitate Gustavo Kuerten, retired former World No. 1 tennis player from Brazil. A source says, “Gustavo Kuerten received an honorary award for his ground-breaking work for the disadvantaged children at a charity dinner. Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan was specially invited by the authorities to join Stefanie Graf and Mary Pierce at the event. She also gave away the prize to Gustavo whose work for the needy has impressed her a lot.”
