Ex-flames Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan usually try their best to avoid each other, however, at times best efforts goes up in smoke. That’s exactly what happened recently at the 17th Annual Star Screen Awards, when Aishwarya went into the lounge area (hang-out place for celebrity performers) and had to hurriedly come out as her ex Salman was also chilling out there.

However, even after spotting Salman, Ash, well-known for maintaining her composure at all times, quickly got over the initially shock of finding Salman at the lounge and moved out as soon as possible to avoid potentially awkward situation.

Ash and Salman had started dating after meeting on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.’ For two years (1999-2000) everything went well, however, in 2002, the IT couple of Bollywood broke up in midst of lots of controversy and drama.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is all set to get sweeter soon. An advanced variety of guava named after the actress is being developed by grafting expert and Padmashree horticulturist Haji Kaleemullah Khan.

‘Aishwarya’ will now adorn your fruit basket. The new variety of guava resembles an apple in texture and is more sweet smelling and pulpier. “The new variety of guava is very different in taste, smell and look from the traditional and normal varieties grown in the country,” said Kaleemullah.

According to Kaleemullah, the biggest advantage of this variety is that it has soft seeds.

“It took almost eight years to develop this unique variety of guava and no chemical fertiliser or pesticide was used in developing the same,” he said.

The horticulturist, who is based in the mango-belt of Malihabad, said that to keep the product totally organic, neem oil was used as a pesticide.

Aishwarya Rai Bachnan’s Elle India cover has sparked plenty of controversy after reports that the cover girl wanted to sue the magazine for allegedly lightening her skin color. The reports are false.

According to Aishwarya’s publicist, the model, actress, and former Miss World has no plans to sue the magazine, as first reported by the Mumbai Mirror.

“We would like to put on record the article printed in Mumbai Mirror dated the 27th of Dec is in fact false (“Ash might sue for ‘whiteface’ ),” said Rai Bachnan’s publicist in a statement. “The statement made therein by the author is self created and bears no representation to our client or the Bachchan family.”

Uber-popular Bollywood celeb Aishwarya Rai Bachchan may sue Indian Elle for reportedly lightening her skin on its cover, according to Hindustan Times.

The news comes in response to a tremendous outcry from fans after the December issue was released

If her skin was in fact lightened for the cover, it was totally unnecessary- I have always thought Aishwarya was one of the most beautiful women in the world- no Photoshopping required.

Want to see what she looks like in “real life” and judge for yourself whether Elle is at fault?

Read on!

Here she is on the cover of Time Magazine. See what I mean? GORGEOUS. I have Aishwarya envy and I’m not ashamed to admit it.

And her skin tone is noticeably warmer in the Time photo, although it looks in the Elle photo as if everything about the shot was lightened, including the background. I’m no expert, so it’s hard to say.

Ash receives autobiography offer

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has apparently been offered a bomb to write her autobiography by a foreign publishing house.

A source said, “Ash remains a global icon who has managed to be at the top of the game for years despite constant good work from younger actors like Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra. Though the industry feels that Kareena is the numero uno star in B-town, in terms of global presence Ash wins over them all. Publishers want to explore the possibility of an autobiography of her journey from modeling to films and her relationships to marriage. They feel here is a fantastic real-life story to be told.”

One foreign publisher apparently went with a blank cheque to Ash and asked her to quote her price. However, Ash is unsure whether it is the right time to write a book. “She respects her privacy and this is the major roadblock in sealing the deal,” said the source.

It may not have been a Roman holiday, literally, but the Colloseum in the background did help to recreate the magic of Rome as Delhi witnessed the launch of Longines Dolce Vita Collection.

Doing the honours, was Longines ambassador of elegance Aishwarya Rai Bachchan along with Claude Jaunin, sales manager of the brand for the Asia Pacific region.

Models walked the ramp in clothes by Gauri and Nainika, sporting the watches that represent the Italian way of life and combine classic style with contemporary elegance.

Talking about her 11 years of association with the brand, Aishwarya said, “Longines stands for classic elegance.

I have had a wonderful time endorsing its products. It is my pleasure to launch the Dolce Vita steel and gold collection as I can identify with the basic essence of the collection that is international style and vintage charm blended into one.” With two special saxophone numbers by Dreamy Sax and a spread of Italian delicacies to conclude the evening, one couldn’t help but say, la dolce vita, indeed!

When Aishwarya Rai had no clothes to wear in Chennai!

India’s most beautiful actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had a harrowing time at the Chennai airport as she lost her personal belongings while traveling from New Delhi to the south capital.

Aishwarya was scheduled for a promotional event, but unfortunately because of her suitcase missing, the lady was in for a spot as to what she would wear while attending the event!

It was the airlines’ mistake and they admitted it too, but how could that be of any help to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who was left with no clothes to wear for the event.

Nonetheless, she maintained her calm through all this and also suggested to the organisers that she would go for the do in her track suit which is what she was wearing.

It’s been a terrific year: Ash

Unfazed by the fate of her films at the box office, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan counts her blessings as she reaps the fruits of years of hard work.

This year, except “Endhiran”, “Guzaarish”, “Raavan” and “Action Replayy” haven’t done too well at the BO. How much does that bother you?
Not at all. I got a great review for each of the films that I worked in, whether it was “Endhiran”, “Raavan”, “Action Replayy” or “Guzaarish”, so for me, it’s been a terrific year. Everything that I set out to accomplish when I took on these movies, as an actor, and in terms of the response I was looking for, I have been able to. Because, as an actor with so many years of experience now, you know when you take on a subject what potential the character per se holds. No one can ever preordain the destiny of a film and I say destiny because it’s literally that. After so many years, you cannot necessarily say that a great film is a superhit or it’s the other way around. I’m happy that the response from critics and audience has been so overwhelming for each of the characters essayed, no matter how different they were from each other.

If Marcello Rubini had watched Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan glide down the ramp at the launch of the Longines Dolce Vita collection at the Taj Palace hotel on Sardar Patel Marg, he would have approved. Wearing a flowing blue gown by designer duo Gauri and Nainika Karan, Rai-Bachchan made for a pretty picture as she spoke about working with actors Kate Winslet and Chi Ling Lin for the new television commercial for the brand, shot across Rome. “It is always a pleasure to work with like-minded women, and we had a lot of fun together ,” she said.

To mark the launch of the collection, the Durbar Hall was transformed in to Federico Fellini’s Roma of the 60s, complete with Italian jazz numbers, and a choreographed performance by two dancers. Models draped in rich shades of wine reds, burgundy, dark greens, blacks and whites, also by the same designers, showcased ten watches from the collection, priced in the range of Rs 95,000 to Rs 2.6 lakh. With husband Abhishek endorsing sister company Omega, the actor insisted that neither of them interfered in the other’s endorsement deals.
