The stunning beauty, who has confessed that she likes to be addressed as Aishwarya rather than Ash, seems to have no qualms about Rajini calling her `Tamila`. The story goes something like this- Aishwarya managed to learn Tamil while shooting for `Robot` and dubbed her lines quite conveniently. Aishwarya Rai, now a Cannes veteran, turned a head turner on as many as three occasions at the Cannes film fiesta in French Riviera. But, it was Sonam Kapoor who was most impressive on the red carpet. Mallika Sherawat’s knack for eye-popping dresses continued with the see-through gown that revealed the outline of her undergarments.

Sonam Kapoor sashayed down the red carpet in Jean Paul Gaultier couture. The lady looked stunningly gorgeous in a dress that seemed tailor-made for her, causing a flutter among the paparazzi.

Aishwarya Rai walked the red carpet on two occasions. On the first day, she looked dazzling in a white-coloured, one-shouldered Elie Saab outfit that had the heavy hemline scraping the red carpet. The second day of the Cannes Film Festival 2011 saw her wearing an icy gown in white and blue by Armani. The strapless gown was contemporary in silhouette and Aishwarya completed her look with a bold, big watch which looked more like a cuff, and a clutch in steel tone.

This was Mallika Sherawat third appearance at Cannes, and as usual she made many heads turn in her direction. This time it was all thanks to the zany see-through gown that even revealed the outline of her undergarments. Though Mallika was outdone by Candice Boucher who turned up in a transparent dress as well.

Minissha Lamba turned into a demure damsel in a fetching gown.

For Day One of her look, prepare the skin with L’Oreal Paris Hydrafresh Acqua Cream. Gold, black, and fuchsia colors should be applied evenly in a sweep. After four years of marriage and an equal number of headline grabbing appearances on the French Riviera, Aishwarya Rai will be going solo at the Cannes red carpet this time, thanks to husband Abhishek Bachchan’s packed schedule.

The Bollywood beauty won’t have Abhishek on her arm this time around as he will be busy shooting in Russia.

“I can’t go this year to Cannes with Aishwarya. We were there together last year to promote ‘Raavan’. But this year I will be shooting in Russia that time,” Abhishek said.

This will be the actress’ tenth consecutive Cannes outing and Abhishek is proud of the achievement.

“I am very proud of her. I think she is the only Indian actress to have that,” said the 35-year-old actor.

The couple made their debut at the coveted film festival in 2007, while Aishwarya’s first appearance was in 2002 with her ‘Devdas’ co-star Shah Rukh Khan.

Madhur Bhandarkar can finally breathe easy. Aishwarya Rai has agreed to play the lead in his upcoming venture, Heroine. The director gave her a narration recently, the actress loved the script and promptly said yes. Incidentally, Madhur had first approached Kareena Kapoor to play the role. But Bebo after showing an initial interest in the project didn’t get back to the director. A disheartened Madhur had put the project on the backburner. But when Aishwarya showed interest, the director galvanized and now it seems the project may well be on its way to the finishing line.

Stardom isn’t exactly a cakewalk for our celebs. Take the handsome couple Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan for example. The duo have had a busy year churning one release after the other and now they don’t even have time to take a holiday off for their fourth wedding anniversary!

On their first anniversary in 2008, Aishwarya had joined Abhishek in Miami as he was shooting for Dostana with John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra.
