In an online popularity contest conducted by Desifans.com, Aishwarya Rai defeated Shah Rukh Khan by a huge margin to win the title of the Most loved Desi Celeb. While Khan got a 32.2 per cent share of votes, Rai won 67.8 per cent. Not only Khan, Rai also nudged Katrina

Kaif.

In another online survey, Rai has also been voted as the Best Actress of 2010 for her performance in Guzaarish. Out of 10,867 votes cast, Aishwarya won 77 per cent.

This time, she was competing against the likes of Kajol (My Name is Khan), Katrina Kaif (Raajneeti) and Vidya Balan (Ishqiya). While Kajol was the runners up with 17 per cent votes, Katrina Kaif bagged 3 per cent of the total votes. Vidya Balan, on the other hand, barely managed 3 per cent of the total votes.

Guzaarish, the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film that hits theatres on 19th November, is spawning headlines in gossip galleries as its release date draws nearer.

In town on Wednesday, the actress tells us how she braved the heat to shoot a commercial Aishwarya’s been in Dubai twice in the matter of a week. So when she tells us, “I only zip in and out of the city. I have never had the time to really explore it,” we believe her. But if there is something Ash is aware of that is the Dubai summer sun.

“We were shooting for a commercial for Lux right in the middle of the summer, under the blazing sun. The crew was absolutely drenched in sweat and the director ended up ordering bottles of Pocari Sweat to hydrate everyone. And I remember there was a crane that was being used during the shoot and it blocked the traffic on one of the main roads. It created quite a stir. But everything turned out well in the end.”

Are the Bachchans set for a tryst with Hollywood stars? Well, it seems so. Cheeni Kum director R. Balki is reportedly planning to approach Oscar-winning actress Meryl Streep for a film with Amitabh Bachchan.

On the other hand, Big B’s daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan might land a role opposite Hollywood actor Ben Stiller. According to TV reports, Ash is vying with Sonam Kapoor for a role in Stiller’s film.

Aishwarya’s spokesperson remained unavailable for comment. Coming back to Big B, Balki is giving finishing touches to a love story with him in mind. The director, who is flying high on the success of Paa, has said approaching the Devil Wears Prada actress for his venture is the least of his worries.

Balki feels “getting an international star is not half as difficult as it is made out to be. My concern is to make sure that the script justifies the casting.” The movie will deal with the issues of cross-cultural love and love in old age.

Big B has said Balki has not spoken to him about casting Streep. “But we are meeting soon to discuss the matter. Nothing has been decided yet,” he said. If Streep doesn’t agree, Balki is believed to have another option ready – Sridevi.

It’s not the first time Bachchan’s name has been associated with a top Hollywood actress. Last year, director Tapan Saha had created ruffles by claiming that Basic Instinct star Sharon Stone was being cast opposite Bachchan in his upcoming film titled Lost Love.

“Sharon has read the script and given her consent,” Saha had stated. He was reportedly also in talks with Abhishek Bachchan and Amanda Seyfried to play the younger versions of Big B and Sharon Stone.

Aishwarya is believed to be competing for a project that Stiller wants to film in India. Sometime back, Hollywood star Michael Douglas had also planned international films in India and expressed the desire to work with Ash. But those plans apparently did not work out.

Of late, Sonam has been making news about being offered two Hollywood movies – Ben Stiller’s production, 30 Minutes Or Less, opposite Zombieland actor Jesse Eisenberg, and Sophia Loren’s son Edoardo Ponti’s film, Das. But she is yet to sign any of these movies.

Aishwarya always likes to wear odd dress materials which boost up the controversy. It has been proved once again. After acting in Devdas, she joined a number of national and international fashion shows. However recently, she wore fantastic and something awkward apparel which has been designed by Elie Saab, an eminent Lebanese fashion designer. The gown is gorgeous and very attractive in color.

The embroidery work is eye catching. However few critics have expressed their different opinions about the new gown which she wore to attend the fashion show. Some of them are not satisfied and told the reporters that Ash would have been more glamorous and elegant had she been clad in saree.
However, Vijay Arora has made remarkable comments about her newly designed gown. He has stated that the color of the apparel is really superb and eye soothing and the embroidery work is undoubtedly brilliant.

Amitabh Bachchan is surely the most lovable father in law that any girl could possibly have, under the Sun.
This was proved very recently, when the Bachchan Bahu, Aishwarya, was traveling to the storm affected areas in the South of India.
It so happened, that Ash had to travel to the South straight from the French Riviera Festival, as she had to reach her shooting venue for the Tamil film ‘Endhiran’, which she is doing opposite the Tamil superstar Rajnikanth.

The time was such when the entire Southern areas of India were under the seizure of the violent winds of the storm named ‘Laila’.
As Big B heard about this trip of Aishwarya, and the storm striken areas, he was as scared as a child. His twitter, mentioned that they were praying to God for Aishwarya’s safety, and well-being. Then he mentioned that she had reached safely, without any major hindrance. Much to the relief of the Bachchan family.

Remember that emotional scene from ‘Paa’ where the on-screen father Abhishek Bachchan carries his on-screen son Amitabh Bachchan (aka Auro) on his back. Well, that may have been a necessity for the film’s script. But, in real life, too, Abhishek (known for his carefree and kiddish manners) often plays this game and no…….not with children but with his unit members.
For instance, during his shots in Rohan Sippy’s ‘Dum Maro Dum’, Abhishek often showcases his funny side and forces others to pamper him. He refuses to walk on his feet from his vanity van to the sets and demands that he be piggybacked to the set.
And Hussain (a crew member) spoils him by always fulfilling his demand. Hussain quips, “Abhishek meri jaan hai (Abhishek is my life-blood). We do this quite frequently, though not everyday.”
Now, if Abhishek can be such a huge prankster on the sets, then just imagine how naughty he must be with wife Aishwarya in their private moments. Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya’s Rai Bachchan, celebrate their 3rd marriage anniversary today. According to Big b’s blog, the couple is to celebrate their anniversary in New York and is expected to be back by the 24th of April.
The young Bachchan couple got married in 2007, in Mumbai. They celebrated their first anniversary in Mauritius where Abhishek was shooting for his film’ Dostana’, and ash had joined him later.

Last year during the second anniversary, the couple had been busy shooting for Mani Ratnam’s ‘Raavan’, but had taken some time off to be together and enjoy a relaxed time on their special day. This year, it is going to be New York!
Well, the couple, who appeared in may flicks together , had first worked in the film ‘ Dhai Akshar Prem Ke’,and have been a hit Jodi ever since, with ‘guru’ making them the ultimate couple of bollywood. Now it is Raavan that is the centre of attention.
In spite of many other flicks together the two have had their respective careers going great guns with other stars. Like Abhishek Bachchan has had his hits with Priyanka Chopra, Rani Mukherjee etc. whereas ash has also worked with Shahrukh, Salman and is coming opposite Akshay Kumar in the upcoming flick ‘Action Replayy’.
All said and done, Abhi and Ash do remain the cute, hot, most happening (and add as many adjectives as you can think of) couple of bollywood! We wish them a very happy anniversary, and a wonderful life ahead.
