Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer ‘Endhiran’, and Kareena Kapoor starrer ‘We are family’, is soon going to be locking horns at the box office on the 3rd of September!
The two flicks, which are touted as being two of the greatest releases in the second half of this year will surely have a tough time in competing with each other, as both have a very powerful star cast with an equally powerful subject, and even more powerful directors backing them up!

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who has managed to raise the female stars benchmark with this film ‘Endhiran’, has reportedly been paid a whopping sum of Rs. 6 crores, the highest ever paid to a female star in B- Town.
This robotic sci- fi lick has been made with a grand budget touching a mind blowing Rs. 200 crores and also stars one of the most popular southern super stars Rajnikanth.The director Shankar, well known down south for his great film making strategies, has left no stone unturned in making this grandest of the grand flick, and a real humdrum is already doing the rounds, as the release of the film is awaited, almost impatiently!
On the other hand, the Siddharth Malhotra directed flick- ‘We Are Family’, made under the Dharma Productions banner, owned by Karan Johar, boasts of a very powerful star cast, like Arjun Rampal, Kajol and Kareena Kapoor.
Kareena Kapoor, who has an equal number of fan following like Aishwarya, will still have to face stiff competition with the exquisite beauty. Reportedly, Kareena has done awe some job in the flick, and everyone from the film unit is raving about her amazing performance.
Thus, the locking of horns at the box office on the 3rd of September is unavoidable, and it is just a matter of a few days, before we get to see who is more popular, Aishwarya or Kareena!

Sushmita Sen will appear in an item number in Sajid Khan’s film, Housefull, dancing to the remixed version of the famous song ‘Apni Toh Jaise Taisi’.

Confirmation of Sushmita’s appearance in the song – first made famous by Amitabh Bachchan in the 1981 blockbuster Lawaaris – puts persistent rumours of Aishwarya Rai’s appearance in the Housefull item number to rest.

While Aishwarya Rai was indeed approached to appear in the song, sources say she has turned the offer down, allegedly due to the link the song has with her father-in-law. She is also currently busy with a filming schedule including Guzaarish, Action Replay and Endhiran. Had Aish agreed, it would have been only her third item number appearance, following ‘Ishq Kamina’ (with Shahrukh Khan in the film Shakti – The Power) and ‘Kajra Re’ (with Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan in the film Bunty Aur Babli).

Aishwarya’s loss is Sushmita’s gain. Sush will appear alongside Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh and Arjun Rampal in a dance number choreographed by Farah Khan. The music will be remixed by Shankar Ehsaan and Loy, to add today’s flavour while retaining a classic feel.

Two of the most beautiful actresses are connected by an uncanny coincidence. The forthcoming films of both the stunners are based on the religious Hindu epics Ramayana and Mahabharata.

Mani Ratnam’s Raavan, starring Aishwarya Rai as Sita, is based on Ramayana. It has south star Vikram playing Ash’s hubby and Abhishek Bachchan playing the villain who kidnaps Ash and takes her into a forest. Govinda’s character, based on Lord Hanuman, is that of a forest guard who helps trace Ash.

Prakash Jha’s film Rajneeti, on the other hand, is based on Mahabharata. The film, a political thriller, borrows a great deal from the politics of Mahabharata. Ranbir Kapoor plays an Arjun-like character who, with the help of his mentor, takes on his rivals. Katrina too plays a politico in the movie that stars a host of actors including Ajay Devgan, Arjun Rampal, Manoj Bajpai and Nana Patekar.

Both ‘Raavan’ and ‘Rajneeti’ have Ash and Katrina in non-glam roles; the stunners are dressed demurely in sarees. Another coincidence is that both the films are set to release in May next year. Though it’s unlikely that the films would clash at the marquee, they would, at best, release with a gap of two weeks in between.

Who will emerge victorious in this battle of supremacy at the box office, we’ll know next year.
