Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been a regular face at the prestigious Cannes film festival while celebrities like Saif Ali Khan, Sonam Kapoor walked the red carpet of Cannes for the first time. Promoting his film, ‘Aarakshan’ at Cannes, Saif said that making an appearances at Cannes is a honor but representing individually is fruitless. Taking a dig at the Bachchan bahurani Ash, the chotte nawab said that Ash has been a common face of Cannes because she is a pretty face.

Now referring any actors for his or her beauty and not for his talents is something that no one would like. This statement of Saif is enough to rage Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Saif feels it is important to showcase Indian cinema there.

“I feel that, generally speaking, we make different kinds of films, there are commercial movies and there are also a lot of filmmakers who make arty movies and they should be competing here,” Saif quoted as saying.

Forty nine films from 33 countries, but the largest producer of films, India, so far has no entry to the 64th Cannes Film Festival.

The only Indian ‘entry’ it seems, at this year’s prestigious festival will again be Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Courtesy the cosmetic brand she endorses, this will be her 10th year when the actress will kiss the air and walk the red carpet.

After the Malayalam film Arimpara made a grand entry at Cannes in 2003, the gap (read: itch) of seven year was filled by Vikram Motwane’s Udaan last year.

Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is all set to attend the Cannes Film Festival, come May (11-22).

The light-eyed beauty is aware that her red carpet looks will draw a lot of attention, as usual. And if a highly placed source, who is part of a major design house’s team, is to be believed, then dressing up Ash these days is a bit of an added effort.

No, it’s not tantrums that the source was hinting at, but that the actor’s apparently fluctuating weight reduces her number of choices of red carpet outfits.

The source says that this was the case when Bachchan sprung a surprise by sashaying down the red carpet of the recent Academy Awards in LA, with hubby Abhishek.
