Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s latest release “Endhiran” hit theatres yesterday. The film stars South superstar Rajnikanth and Bollywood diva Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead roles.

“Endhiran” is the most expensive Indian film till date. Some of her upcoming films include “Robot” a Hindi adaptation of “Endhiran”, “Action Replayy” opposite Akshay Kumar and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish” opposite Hrithik Roshan. Each of these films has a budget of around 40-50 crores if not more.

Aishwarya added “I don’t see the budget when I sign a film. Some movies just happen to have a big budget. What attracts me to a project is the director, the story and my character. Big or small, I am equally excited or nervous during the release.”

SHANKAR ON ASH – THE HERO!

Director Shankar has thus far directed Aishwarya Rai twice in his career. She was the heroine in Jeans, which Shankar had directed way back in 1998 when Ash had just entered the film industry.
When Shankar was asked about how it was working with Ash then and now, he replied she has turned into a pro. He recalls that she needed a lot of explanation in Jeans but in Endhiran she understood the nuances of filmmaking. Shankar added that she works like a hero right from 7 am (that’s when she enters the sets) till its time to go home.

The director also clarified that Ash wrote her Endhiran dialogues in English and came well prepared everyday.

The two worlds of Aishwarya Rai

As the star of Endhiran, India’s most expensive movie and her latest, Aishwarya Rai talks to Kevin Maher about bridging the cultural gap between Bollywood and Hollywood, and how her high-profile celebrity marriage is no publicity stunt.

Like some glittering celestial orb, frozen in the firmament, Aishwarya Rai is caught between the powerful pull of two worlds. In one, she is the Bollywood Queen, daughter of a nation, a former Miss World turned movie icon and now married to India’s golden son, Abhishek Bachchan. When she kisses on screen she ignites a national controversy (more on that later). And her every move is tracked by a ravenous and sometimes savage media (fake reports of her death in a car crash caused countrywide consternation in 2006).

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra: ‘Tough competition?’

September 24th, 2010

By Jilawatan

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra are inevitably going to be pitted against one another on the 1st of October, as both the flicks, ‘Endhiran’, and ‘Anjaana Anjaani’, are now slated to release on the same day!
Even though ‘Anjaana Anjaani’, was supposed to be releasing on the 24th as per the earlier schedule, the release date has been pushed back, thus, this has made the flick clash with the much awaited most expensive flick ever made on Indian soil ‘,Endhiran’.
As known, Aishwarya and Rajnikant are two of the most popular faces to have ever embraced the Indian silver screen, thus, it is being assumed that their flick will have tremendous success at the box office. With tabloids reporting ticket sales being a complete sell out, this sci- fi sure seems to be a big winner.
On the other hand, ‘Anjaana Anjaani’, being a Ranbir Priyanka starrer, and having some great foreign locales, with some great fun filled moments, a rom- com of sorts, is also touted to be one major attraction at the box office!
The buzz is however that will Priyanka give tough competition to the ever popular Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, will the two be in a only I’m the winner situation, or will it be a nail biting finish for both of them, where everyday will be a major competition day, with all eyes tabulating over who is the bigger crowd puller?
Well, this is getting tougher to decide! Just start counting downwards, till the ‘D’ day!

Aishwarya Rai: Will Endhiran and Action Replayy erase Raavan memories?

By Jilawatan

Aishwarya Rai is all set to ram into the theatres this season with two of her films ready for a release. First up is ‘Endhiran’ (Robot) which stars the South Indian God Rajnikanth. Endhiran is the costliest film ever made in India and relies heavily on gadgets and technology.
The film shall be unleashed on the last leg of September and is carrying the burden of heavy expectations. Apart from this bilingual flick, Aishwarya has ‘Action Replayy’ studded for a Diwali release. The film takes a walk into the 70s era and shall remind us of the painfully sweet good, old days evoking huge amount of nostalgia.
It stars Akshay Kumar in the male lead and is the biggie of this festive season. Given that both the films release around the festive occasions, there is a huge chance of a terrific box office response.
But will these films erase the agonising memories of Raavan debacle earlier this year? Aishwarya, at least, is bound to gain. The same can’t be said of Abhishek who is still reeling under the devastation caused by his ten headed avatar.
