Three Indian beauties and brand ambassadors of L’Oreal Paris— Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor and Freida Pinto, will light up the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival this year.

To be held from the 11th – 22nd of May 2011, it is one of the most prestigious film festivals and L’Oreal Paris has been the official make-up expert of it for 14 years.

Says Aishwarya, “Being at Cannes for L’Oreal Paris has been an absolute pleasure and to experience this for the tenth consecutive year is overwhelming. It is one of the most glamourous red carpets on the world platform, celebrating cinema, showbiz, beauty, diversity and excellence. Several countries have always had more than one spokeswoman at Cannes and I’m glad India is finally getting the same recognition. I am happy that with Sonam and Freida, both beautiful women, have being invited to the festival this year, India will have a stronger presence, which is a clear sign of the growing importance of the country.”

Freida Pinto has replaced Aishwarya Rai as the Indian face of an international cosmetics brand.

The Slumdog Millionaire actress featured in a Happy New Year TV ad for the cosmetics giant with all its other global brand ambassadors, except for Ash.

The Jr Mrs B had been representing the brand since 2005, while Freida joined them in 2009.

Recently, their was a news about the Slumdog Millionaire girl Freida Pinto replacing Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as the face to the cosmetic brand L’Oreal Paris. However, the firm have denied any such rumours saying that Aish continues to be the brand ambassador of L’Oreal.

These rumours cropped when Ms Pinto was seen featuring in the L’Oreal Paris New Year 2011′s commercial ad. The official statement of the firm stated that they were shocked when they read in some of the media write-ups that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been replaced as the face of the brand. They added that L’Oreal Paris confirms that the piece of information is totally untrue and Aishwarya continues to be the brand ambassador as she has been with them since the year 2000.

Last week, buzz was rife that Slumdog Millionaire star Freida Pinto had been snapped up as the next Bond girl. However, the actress issued a statement saying that she had not been approached for the role. However, sources close to director Sam Mendes have hinted that the rumours were fuelled because producers had been hunting for shooting locations in India, as the next Bond film is set in our backyard. And now, the same sources have said that our very own Ashwarya Rai Bachchan, India’s most famous export, is to play the Bond girl.

“Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is a recognisable face not only in Hollywood, but also in Europe,” said our source, “and after films like Pink Panther 2, The Last Legion and Provoked, she has proved that she can hold her own in front of an international audience, and with an international star cast. The producers wanted an Indian actress for the role of the Bond girl, as James Bond comes to India on his next mission, but they also wanted a famous face. And which Indian is more famous than Ash, who was once called the most beautiful woman in the world by Julia Roberts herself?”

Freida Pinto, Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan, Preity Zinta and Priyanka Chopra are busy lending their names to benevolent plans.

Freida has signed up with Nanhi Kali Foundation while Ash will be Smile Train’s first goodwill ambassador.

Nanhi Kali Foundation, for the uninitiated, aims to offer primary education to underprivileged girl children in India. Smile Train, on the other hand, is a leading cleft charity involved in providing free cleft surgery to poor children.

“God has given me plenty of reasons to smile and I feel it’s time to spread it around. Lot of children desperately need help, but can’t receive timely care since their families cannot afford this surgery or are uneducated,” says Ash.

The last updation we got from Aishwarya Rai’s front was that even a fairly new actress like Sonam Kapoor was proving to be a competition for Mrs Bachchan but the latest news doing rounds in the film industry is that ‘Slumdog’ sizzler Freida Pinto is Ash’s competitor now! According to reports, a big brand that has Ash as its international brand ambassador and Sonam as the Indian brand face is now signing Freida Pinto as one of their international models.

Inside reports suggest that since Freida will also be representing the same brand hence she shall be walking the red carpet at all major international film festivals next year, giving Aishwarya company.

Freida, who has bagged films with Hollywood biggies is also expected to be on the jury of some of the biggest film festivals in 2010.
