Guzaarish, the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film that hits theatres on 19th November, is spawning headlines in gossip galleries as its release date draws nearer.
And with vigorous and aggressive promotions keeping everyone on his or her toe, director Bhansali is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the purity of his film’s characters.
Hrithik and Aishwarya are the two chief protagonists of the film and the romance between them has been presented in a very chaste and platonic way. There is subtlety and complete purity in their romance. Sanjay was determined to manifest their love in such a passionate and pristine way that he incorporated dialogues from Franco Zeffirelli’s 1968 classic Romeo and Juliet.

Guzaarish actor Aishwarya Rai recently paid a visit to Kolkata to promote her upcoming film. Her co-star Hrithik Roshan couldn’t accompany her owing to ill-health but nevertheless Aishwarya’s presence triggered a phenomenal buzz amidst the local paparazzi.
When one of the media men questioned her when she would be working with Rituparno Ghosh again, Aishwarya humbly said that is for the director to decide and she is always ready for him.
Aishwarya also remarked that she had met him recently at an award function and there he had asked her when would they be working again. And Aishwarya could only smile and answer back that it was the director’s call.
Aish had previously worked with the ace Bengali director in the popular Bengali film ‘Chokher Bali’ in which she portrayed the powerful character of Binodini. Binodini was a widow who developed a lust for another married man named Mahendra (essayed by Proson Jeet).
That film was hailed by all critics and we saw a pristine Bengali touch in Aishwarya’s petite frame. Aishwarya again rubbed shoulders with Rituparno in ‘Raincoat’ which was immensely loved by a section of the society.
While that film gave immense self satisfaction to Aishwarya, the audience (especially from Bengal) await the day when Aish would step into the Bengali garbs once again.

On posters and in promos for her new film, Guzaarish, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is seen smoking casually. Three days before the film releases, anti-tobacco activists have launched a protest, demanding that the film’s makers remove those shots from publicity material.
Bollywood and Aishwarya, they say, influence young people. And in a country where 10 lakh people die every year from smoking-related diseases, stars and their directors need to be more responsible, they contend.
”We know that we are playing into the hands of the films producers by giving their film more publicity but our concern is public health,” says Dr Pankaj Chaturvedi, an associate professor at the Tata Memorial Hospital.
But the contentious scenes from the film, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and co-starring Hrithik Roshan, have been on air for a month – and the last-minute protests are being questioned for being cunningly crafted for maximum publicity.

Beauty queen Aishwarya Rai is compelled to endorse the films in which she acted namely Action Replayy and Guzaarish, through television shows. Aishwarya Rai, however, has her own reservations as regards the promotion of her films. She is reluctant to appear on television shows fearing her popularity would be affected. But, she did appear in a realty show hosted by Akshay Kumar, her co-star in the film Action Replayy.
Though the promotion of the films through the TV shows is mentioned as mandatory, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the director of Guzaarish, seems to have made an exception in the case of Aishwarya Rai. So he put aside the idea of pressurizing her to participate in the promotional event that took place in Dubai recently in which Hritik Roshan participated.

Aishwarya Rai, who once again teams up with Sanjay Leela Bhansali in Guzaarish, says they share a strange connection. The beautiful actress also says that the sensitive film helped the whole team reconnect with the goodness inside them.
“We are so strangely connected that we can communicate so much in silence. You can’t bring down the experience of working with Sanjay in one word, sentence or a paragraph. Sanjay can’t be contained in a word. We all say he is a genius, multi-faceted, but actually he is a real artiste. He sings, he breaks into dance, he loves music and he is very intense,” Aishwarya told IANS in an interview.
Guzaarish being her third film with Bhansali after Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) and Devdas(2002), the actress reveals that she has always felt being an important character in his films and not just the lead heroine.

Close to two decades of constant media attention, yet she remains a glittering icon, more symbol than real, defined almost entirely by how she looks.
Aishwarya Rai has an ‘adjective’ problem. She is reportedly the highest paid actress in Indian cinema with her pick of the best roles, banners and directors. Each of her movies in 2010 — Raavan, Robot, the recently released Action Replayy, and soon to premiere Guzaarish — is a five-star production that most actresses can only dream about. This is the face that has launched a thousand magazine articles, and yet not one word in them reveals the woman behind that immaculate visage. Nearly two decades of constant media attention later, she remains a glittering icon, more symbolic than real, defined entirely by how she looks. “I don’t know of anyone who is crazy about Aishwarya,” says filmmaker and critic Paromita Vohra. “[Hers] is a sort of empirical or quantitative success, by virtue of ticking off all the correct surface qualities.” And that perfect ‘surface’ is all that everyone talks about.

It is her debut film, and it has on board with big names such as Hrithik Roshan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. But, model-turned-actor Monikangana Dutta says Guzaarish is no dream debut. “It is an ideal debut, but I won’t say it was a dream. Dreams are bigger,” she says.
That said, she admits that “it was a wonderful experience.”
Dutta admits she didn’t always have her eyes set on Bollywood. “I received lot of offers… but I only wanted the best. I was not even looking at Bollywood. Some people get into it for money or fame, but I have all that. For me, it was different. Sanjay Bhansali saw my pictures, called up and gave me the role. I didn’t have to audition,” she says.
The actor’s steamy love scenes have been a hot topic of discussion for a while now.

Times have changed and now only a good film is not enough but you have to market it as well, which is why it has become a common trend these days that producers try to promote their movies though various popular television serials cashing upon their huge viewership.
Now as the release date of movie Guzaarish is coming closer, producer is leaving no stone unturned by marketing it across the various options available, and one such option would be Salman Khan’s Big Boss 4 which is extremely popular amongst reality shows loving audience of India.
However we all know how Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai broke up and they have never even come remotely closer to each other since the mishap, and promotions of a movie would certainly mean having the lead female protagonist, Aishwarya Rai, director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and hero Hrithik Roshan along with the host Salman Khan on the special show.

Each of these films has a budget of around 40-50 crores if not more.
