Just last week a veritable pantheon of Bollywood talent turned out in style for the GQ Men of the Year Awards event held at Mumbai’s Grand Hyatt hotel. In attendance were scions such as Amitabh Bachchan an his wife Jaya, as well as younger stars such as Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Katrina Kaif , Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan , Irrfan Khan , Karan Johar , Lara Dutta and Abhay Deol , the list just goes on and on!

The dapper Saif Ali Khan took the coveted award for Man of the Year home while his other half Kareena Kapoor was awarded the trophy for Woman of the Year. A matching set!

Amitabh Bachchan received the Lifetime Achievement Award and “Road, Movie ” actor Abhay Deol was acknowledged as the Breakthrough Talent.

Sources say that Ash may star opposite SRK in sci-fi flick Ra 1, SRK’s home production or it could be a new film altogether. In Ra 1, SRK plays father to a teenage son and Ash could easily play a hot mamma. SRK and Ash had no qualms about working together until Salman Khan threw a fit on the sets of Chalte Chalte which resulted in Ash’s ouster from the film. The role then went to Rani Mukerji.

This created a rift between SRK and Ash and SRK and Salman. The latter made up a few years later at Farah’s sangeet ceremony to fight again at Katrina’s birthday bash last year. SRK and Ash made up at Karan Johar’s birthday bash earlier this year.

Dumping the L’Oreal issue, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor turned friends. They joined hands at Karan Johar’s party. Ash has sorted out the differences. The duo garnered much attention recently due to their cat-fights. The spark from both the sides was so strong that the issue became a national news. However, everything between them has now sorted out and they are now making news for their new friendship.

Sonam Kapoor is even going to make her stage debut at the IIFA event in which the Bachchans are playing the most important part. In fact, the Bachchan bahu is also going to perform this IIFA.

Sonam will shake her legs and body to the Masakali song from Delhi-6. She is quite excited and looking forward to this great event with high hopes.

It seems Karan Johar’s birthday bash worked well for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, as the actress patched up with all those people, she wasn’t on speaking terms with and one of them is lover boy Vivek Oberoi. The lovebirds split on an ugly note, which cost Vivek his career and some friends in Bollywood, have reunited.

As per reports, the two met and instead of walking past rudely talked for ten minutes! Now, Ash and Vivek are friends! Aishwarya Rai and Vivek Oberoi were in a relationship, before Aishwarya met Bachchan scion Abhishek Bachchan. Can we hope to see them sharing screen space? Or is it only to clear the air?

The lukewarm response to her recent Hollywood release Pink Panther-II has had Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (35) conceding her position as the most popular face of Bollywood.

In the West to the new international craze 24-year-old Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire), who according to reliable sources has been signed for two films — one with Woody Allen and the second with Julian Schnabel.

Freida, who is said to have earned over two million pounds, overtaking Bollywood beauties like Aishwarya, Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif is also, according to a world film distributor, being wooed to walk the red carpet at Cannes in May 2009.

On the Bollywood front, Kareena Kapoor (28) has nudged Aishwarya Rai Bachchan out of the Filmfare Top-10 Power list.

But a producer from Chennai confirms that Ash is still the highest paid Indian heroine and has reportedly been paid a fee of Rs six crore for Shankar’s Robot, where she is cast opposite Rajnikant.

How did Mrs India happen?
I was busy with investment consulting for Standard Chartered, when I decided to send my portfolio to Gladrags. I was shortlisted and here I am.

All your family was there except Aishwarya. Why?
All my family was there to support me. Pa-in-law and mom-in-law were nervous, but Aditya was the most nervous! Ash could not come as she was busy shooting for her film, but that didn’t stop her from calling and messaging me.

Did you get some modelling tips from her?
Ash is a pro at walking the ramp and has won pageants too. She shared some tips with me regarding the walk and expressions, but the one important thing she told me was that I should forget about everything and just enjoy the experience. And that actually helped me a lot.

Pakistan, demesne of stringent discipline had banned Karan Johar’s Dostana since it was reported to have obnoxious contents of ‘Gay Issues’. With a lay man Khuram Khan filing a writ petition, a single bench of High Court of Lahore passed the order of banning the film. The court has stated that the movie propagates homosexualisms that is not entertained or supported in Pakistan. Of course, in reality it’s considered as a crime punishable by whipping, imprisonment and even death.

Khuram Khan, the petitioner stated Dostana promotes gay marriage that is proscribed in Islamic as well other religion. The petitioner had argued that Pakistan Censor Board shouldn’t allow the film’s release even though film distributors have obliged to screen it.  Also he added, “according to Islamic religion, Allah tells us in the Qur’an that He created everything in pairs”.
