Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is verifying the reports on her face being whitened on the cover of a fashion magazine to meet the Caucasian standards of beauty. A racial controversy on this has just got darker. As per the reports, the actress is extremely angry over the incident; her first reaction according to a source closer to her was disbelief.

She opined that such type of things do not happen anymore, and we should keep in mind that in the present day world women are recognized for their merit, and not for their skin colours. The interesting point here is that the whitening was first noticed by fans, but not by media. With the news, several fashion victims who had gone through the magazine noticed that the appearance of their beauty queen was not looking like her natural colour and started posting their messages online.

This year, except “Endhiran”, “Guzaarish”, “Raavan” and “Action Replayy” haven’t done too well at the BO. How much does that bother you?
Not at all. I got a great review for each of the films that I worked in, whether it was “Endhiran”, “Raavan”, “Action Replayy” or “Guzaarish”, so for me, it’s been a terrific year. Everything that I set out to accomplish when I took on these movies, as an actor, and in terms of the response I was looking for, I have been able to. Because, as an actor with so many years of experience now, you know when you take on a subject what potential the character per se holds. No one can ever preordain the destiny of a film and I say destiny because it’s literally that. After so many years, you cannot necessarily say that a great film is a superhit or it’s the other way around. I’m happy that the response from critics and audience has been so overwhelming for each of the characters essayed, no matter how different they were from each other.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is currently in Europe on a short vacation with hubby Abhishek Bachchan. The couple, who took off for their trip last week, are expected back in Mumbai shortly. Their itinerary includes a visit to an international film festival being held at Europe, apart from the usual sightseeing.

Apparently it was Abhishek’s decision to take the trip so that he could spend quality time with Ash after having shot back-to-back for his films. She was in Rome earlier this month, shooting a commercial for Swiss watch makers Longines with Academy Award-winning actress and Longines’ Ambassador of Elegance, Kate Winslet, and Taiwanese actress Lin Chi Ling.

Dressed in little black dresses, Ash, Kate and Lin looked stunning while filming the commercial on the streets of Rome. The trio also attended the brand presentation of Longines and was also part of a gala evening where a film featuring them was shown for the first time.

The lanky Taiwanese model Chi-Ling Lin presented a chirpy picture in a taupe outfit and shiny peep-toes. The launch event was great and so was Aishwarya, who looked best among the three. Her make-up was just right and the actress looked perfectly beautiful, first in a short pleated dress and then in a one-shouldered gown. As she always mesmerizes with her beauty and elegance, this time too she made quite a style statement with her appearance. However, Kate disappointed with her looks – too plain. While Lin with that figure was glamorous and fun.
