The fourth edition of TV reality show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ will kick start from October 11.

The KBC 4 will be hosted by megastar Amitabh Bachchan.

But the buzz around is that Bollywood couple Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan will appear in a episode of KBC 4.

The channel is trying to get in more celebrities for this season to make it more interesting and special.

Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan will be seen in this season of Kaun Banega Crorepati. The channel has contacted him, but he is still to confirm his presence.

The winning amount has been increased from 1 crore to 5 crore in the fourth edition.

Amitabh Bachchan invaded your living rooms when he forayed into television and anchored the quiz show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’. He again proved his dominance and mastery over his craft when he got involved in the Colors’ ‘Bigg Boss’. His son Abhishek Bachchan followed suit and is now anchoring a game show ‘c’ in Colors. And, the latest hearsay is that now it’s turn of the Bachchan Bahu Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to embark on her small-screen journey.
Reports have been doing the rounds that the ‘Most Beautiful Woman on Earth’ is going to host a chat show Colors and thus launch her TV debut.
A source quips, “Right from the time they signed Amitabh Bachchan for Bigg Boss, the channel had decided to have Abhishek and Aishwarya as well.” Despite her gruelling work-schedule, Ash, reportedly, has given her nod even though her spokesperson has dismissed such news.

Right now, the logistics are being formatted to give the show a fresh appeal. And the hugely-demanded Aishwarya will, undoubtedly, charge a whopping sum from the Colors channel. Any guesses, how princely will be her fees?

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the stunningly beautiful daughter-in-law of Amitabh Bachchan who sizzled in super duper hit flicks like ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’, ‘Dhoom’ , ‘Devdas’ and ‘Guru’ with the likes of Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Shah Rukh Khan and Abhishek Bachchan, has been offered a talk show on television.

The offer has so much moolah and other benefits with it that Aishwarya is seriously considering it, and if her busy schedule permits the show will be on from next year. Her husband Abhishek Bachchan has already been signed for a game show ‘National Bingo Night’, which is going on air shortly.

Even, Amitabh Bachchan has been roped in by the channel to continue with the hosting of ‘Bigg Boss’ in its fourth season with a mind boggling amount. Big B had been paid Rs 1.5 crore per episode for the season three of Bigg Boss, and the remuneration for the fourth season has gone up even further.

Sources close to channel say that if Aishwarya Rai gives her consent for the talk show, it will be the biggest event for not only the channel but also for the television world. As this will be for the first time that all the three Bachchans –Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan—will be working on a channel.

If this happens, the Bachchans will rule the roost in year 2010. In any case, Amitabh Bachchan had never any parallel on television, as was proved–earlier with ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ and recently with ‘Bigg Boss 3’. Remember, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and other bollywood actors’ shows had either flopped or met with limited success, if at all.

The industry is watching with interest Abhishek Bachchan’s television debut with ‘National Bingo Night’. They are wondering if Abhishek can match the iconic presence of his father Amitabh Bachchan on television. However, Abhishek Bachchan is least bothered about this aspect and prefers to concentrate on his work.

Abhishek’s game show will have him connecting with viewers, who can participate play and win the game, while sitting in the comfort of their own drawing rooms. Abhishek accepted to host the game show because of its uniqueness and potential to connect with the audiences.

Actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be given a tax exemption for income earned from stage performances abroad and modelling, as an actor, for an international watch company.

The Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) in Mumbai passed the detailed order, which is likely to benefit many actors and sportspersons, this week.

The tribunal accepted that while performing in stage shows abroad and modelling, Rai, as an actor, is entitled to benefits under section 80 RR of the Income Tax Act.

The section allows a certain percentage of tax exemption to authors, playwrights, artists, musicians, actors and sportspersons on income derived from practicing their profession abroad.

Rai had claimed a tax exemption of Rs 54.9 lakh on the Rs 1.85 crore she earned abroad

in the assessment year 2003-2004.

The earnings were from stage shows and endorsement of watches made by Swiss company Longines Francillon.

Rai was first denied the exemptions.

The assessment officer had noted that she participated in the stage shows and advertisements not as an actor or artiste, but as “Aishwarya Rai”, a popular figure.

A bench of ITAT members A. L. Gehlot and R. S. Padvekar ruled, “An actor does not mean only acting in films. It can be even on stage.”

It further ruled that though every appearance of a film star on stage may not be acting, if an actor is a professional, engaged by a party, wherein the assessee (actor) has to give a photo session or participate in video shoots, it amounts to acting.

Rai had appealed to the Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeal) who allowed her tax exemption for stage shows but not for endorsing the watch brand.

The department appealed against the actor being granted an exemption for stage shows.

Rai, in turn, appealed against the decision to disallow her exemption for endorsing the watch brand.

The tribunal also relied upon its earlier ruling of 2006 when actor Amitabh Bachchan — now Rai’s father-in-law — had claimed tax exemption under section 80 RR for earnings from anchoring television show Kaun Banega Crorepati.

The tribunal had then ruled that Bachchan had anchored the show as an artiste.
