One of Bollywood’s most respected actresses, Aishwarya Rai, has stated that she does not appreciate the recent remarks that the former singer known as Madonna made about her home country of India.

Madonna, told the supermarket tabloid, Just Saying that when she visited India three weeks ago she was surprised to see that there are a lot of people in need of food while cows are allowed to roam all over the place untouched as if they were Central Park squirrels.

She also noted that she did not see one single Indian wearing the traditional moccasins, loin cloths, or Indian war bonnets.

Aishwarya picked up a copy of Just Saying at the grocery store and she read Madonna’s remarks as she stood in line with her milk, eggs, and roti (bread).

The beautiful actress who was named Miss World in 1994 and Miss Solar System in 1995, said that the ‘material girl’ is just upset at the fact that she is 52, and the last time she performed at a concert only 16 people showed up in a concert arena that holds 18,000.

Madonna tried to blame it on the weather, but it was a clear evening and the temperature was a pleasant 68 degrees. She later learned that most of the people just felt that her concert tickets were overpriced at $4, $7, and $8.

Aishwarya, who is considered The Undisputed Queen of Bollywood, giggled when she said that she had recently heard Anderson Cooper say that America’s number one exponent of the art of lip syncing Britney “Don’t Look At My Lips” Spears wrote in her autobiography titled, The Idiot’s Guide To Lip Syncing that she learned pretty much all she knows about lip syncing from watching Madonna’s live concert videos.

Spears said that the key to lip syncing is to always put the microphone right in front of your mouth or else hide your lips with something handy such as a hamburger.

Britney also divulged another tip from her book that if you are going to lip sync you have to insist that the cameramen do not shoot any closeups.

And perhaps the most important rule of all, if you are going to sneeze or cough during the song, be sure and either turn around or else give the lighting director a pre-designated signal to immediately turn off the spotlight that is focused on you so that your lyrics are not heard during your sneeze or cough.

Aishwarya Rai has stated that she feels sorry for Madonna because so many people think that she and David Letterman are sister and brother because they have the same pronounced tooth gap.

The ironic part is that everyone knows that there is certainly no love lost between the two since Letterman calls Madonna the female version of Donald Trump in the hair department and Madonna calls Letterman the human model for Mad Magazine’s Alfred E. Neuman.

The actress, trapped in the dense forests of Kerala with husband Abhishek for Mani Ratnam’s Raavan, took a call and spoke to BT about it. “We’ve evolved together, grown as individuals and artistes, we’re both similar — totally driven and passionate, the passion is mutually addictive, we don’t meet for months, but every time we meet — we pick up the threads effortlessly,” said Ash about her filmmaker friend.

But, Guzaarish is going to be different from their first two films. “This time we aren’t going into the glamour zone,” said Ash. “Sanjay was so excited when he found the right script for us to work together in. ‘This is it,’ he said.

For the first time I didn’t even read the script before I said yes. It’s a very real, very intense drama. I respect filmmakers like Sanjay, Mani Ratnam and Shankar who make the films they do because they have to. The family that I’ve married into, this belief and faith in the work we do is predominant. Ma or Pa only go into projects with complete conviction. I follow that faith.”

She laughed when asked whether filmmakers who wanted Aishwarya Rai Bachchan would settle for no other actress, “I don’t know, but when I am not able to do a project they discuss the alternatives with me. I treasure that relationship with my directors where they don’t see me as just their heroine but a collaborator even if I’m unable to do their films.”

That apart, Ash is thrilled to be working with Hrithik again. They were offered Mission Kashmir soon after Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, but she couldn’t meet the schedule, so her role was done by Preity Zinta. Then they almost did Krissh, but that, too, didn’t materialise.  Hrithik has admitted that the former Miss World is his favourite co-star.

“We did an ad-film together before working in Dhoom 2 and Jodhaa-Akbar. Hrithik, Sanjay and I are like-minded people — very focussed and passionate about our work. The two films Hrithik and I did were poles apart and now Sanjay’s film takes us into a totally different territory.

Like I said, there’s no glam zone in this one. I go completely by my convictions. I chose to do Dhoom 2 after ten years in the industry and not at the start of my career. I was just cracking a genre. And then I moved on. On the other hand, I was content being totally deglam in Guru. If I get loved by my audience for it, then nothing like it,” she said.

Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has declined to be immortalised as a Barbie doll due to her professional commitments.

It was earlier reported that representatives of the 35-year-old actress were in negotiations with Barbie’s manufacturer Mattel, who planned to give the iconic doll a Bollywood face. But the deal did not take off.

Since 1994 when Aishwarya won the Miss World title, the company has made numerous attempts to make a celebrity doll modelled on the Indian beauty. However, she could never get time for their endeavour, due to her professional commitments, she said.

Yet again on the doll’s 50th anniversary, Aishwarya was approached to appear decked up as a celebrity Barbie. “Mattel was keen to have the actress walk the ramp on Lakme Fashion Week ‘Barbie dolled up’ in a winning design as Single Likeness Barbie.

Which would be unveiled and auctioned for a charity of her choice,” said a statement issued by Aishwarya’s spokesperson.However, the actress opted out due to her prior commitments as she did not want to cause inconvenience to the film-makers she was working with by taking time out for the event.

Rai sprung to fame when she won the Miss World contest in 1994, which spawned a lucrative modelling and acting career. She made the transition to Hollywood with starring roles in Bride and Prejudice, Mistress of Spices, The Last Legion and more recently in Pink Panther 2 alongside Steve Martin.

She became the face of L’Oréal cosmetics in 2005 and is one of only two Indian film stars to have their waxwork image displayed at Madame Tussaud’s.

She formally became a member of Bollywood’s “royal family” when she married actor Abhishek Bachchan, the son of India’s most popular star Amitabh Bachchan.

Now she is set to join the ranks of Hollywood immortals and pop divas like Beyoncé Knowles, Elizabeth Taylor, and Diana Ross, who have all had “celebrity Barbies” modelled on them.

Rai’s representatives were yesterday reported to be in negotiations with the toy manufacturer as it plans to transform the iconic doll into a Bollywood star and sell it throughout India. If successful, the new Barbie will have Miss Rai’s striking green eyes, and wear outfits created by India’s top designers.
