After nearly ten years, international manager Simone Sheffield has officially terminated her relationship with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as her International Representative.

No reason was cited for the split. During their time together, Aishwarya became an international celebrity appearing on the top rated CBS program 60 Minutes, on the cover of Time Magazine, as well as being listed as one of their 100 most influential people in the entertainment world; appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show twice, and starred in the English language productions Bride And Prejudice, Mistress Of Spices, Provoked, The Last Legion co-starring with Oscar winner Colin Firth, and The Pink Panther 2.

Most recently the actress attended her first Academy Awards ceremony this past February. Over the past decade, she also has worked with some of the world’s leading fashion designers including Armani, Gucci, Cavalli and Saab.

Aishwarya Rai: Does her Robot role justify her talent ?

October 3rd, 2010

Rajnikanth starrer Endhiran (Robot or Robo) has rammed into the theatres with an explosive, box office shattering punch and has gone on to rewrite history. From what one hears about the Chennai crowd going berserk over Rajnikanth posters, the film, surely, has sort of stamped its undisputed dominance on the silver screen.
Despite the lavishness of the costumes, the opulence of the sets and the grandeur of the large-scaled technology, one feels that Aishwarya Rai merely wasted away her talent for this movie which had only Rajnikanth written all over it.
It’s true that the monumental success of Endhiran marks another megahit in Aishwarya’s CV but it can’t be denied that at a phase when Aish should do more women-centric roles, the portrayal of Sana in this film will not bring any laurels or critical acclaim for her.
It may be argued that the first-time teaming up of Rajni and Aish is a big welcome from the cine goers, still Ash had nothing more to do here than to change attires in every 20 seconds and look utterly gorgeous.

After making her presence felt in Hollywood studios with films like ‘Bride and Prejudice’, ‘Mistress of Spice’, ‘Provoked’, ‘The Last Legion’ and ‘Pink Panther 2’, ex-Miss World and Bollywood’s reigning queen Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is all set to clinch a movie deal with Hollywood actor Russell Crowe.

According to the latest news, Aishwarya, who is gracing the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, will soon be seen in another Hollywood project.

Talking to a news daily, a source said, “Russell was with his wife Danielle Spencer and they bonded well with Ash. Word is that they also discussed the possibility of doing a film together and both parties were very keen. It would be a great star cast to have for any movie as it would see the best of both industries coming together.”

It is hugely believed that Hollywood A-list stars like Eva Longoria-Parker and Elizabeth Banks have been inspired by B-town’s light-eyed beauty Aishwarya.

aishwarya-rai-shines-in-intAishwarya Rai, who has some of the plumiest project in her kitty, doesn’t have time for cameos, guest appearances or even TV shows, but she’s making an exception for her business manager Hari Singh.

Hari has represented Ash ever since she began her Bollywood career and he is now turning producer with a film based on a woman-centric theme. It tells the story of a war widow’s struggle for justice.

Ash was approached to play the character of a lawyer who comes to the widow’s defence and she has reportedly given her nod. Ash would be part of a lot of courtroom drama in the second half of the film. Though it’s not the leading role, it’s very pivotal to the story.

The film will be directed by Jagmohan Mundhra who previously directed Ash as a battered Punjabi housewife in his film Provoked on domestic violence. Mundhra confirms that Ash would act in Hari Singh’s film but adds that her role isn’t a cameo.

Aishwarya Rai still rides high on international endorsementsShe may no longer be the the face of brands like Coca-Cola and Nakshatra diamond jewellery in India, but Aishwarya Rai is still riding high on successful and long-standing international endorsements.

Aishwarya has completed nearly a decade of endorsing Swiss luxury watch brand Longines and international soap Lux. She has also been the brand ambassador of global haircare brand L’Oreal since 2003.

Noted ad-man Prahlad Kakkar says Aishwarya is sought by well-known brands because she is more than just an actress and is often perceived as an ambassador of India. “Aishwarya was never a big or major endorser of Indian products.

She has an impressive list of international brands to her name and that’s because she is not just an actress who can be judged on hits and flops, but the fact that she is a representative of the Indian woman and is an ambassador of the country,” Kakkar, who made her famous as Sanju in a 1993 TV commercial for Pepsi, told IANS on phone from Mumbai.
