Aishwarya Rai Bachchan along with Provoked director Jagmohan Mundhra has been invited by a university in Germany to speak on women empowerment and domestic abuse, which is incidentally the theme of the film too.

She is also expected to share her experiences of essaying the role a woman who was abused in reality and the process of film-making at a programme to be held from July 15-17. Jagmohan is expected to deliver a speech on his experiences while making Provoked.

An elated Jagmohan reveals, “We have got the letter of invitation from the German Federal State of Rhineland’s Mainz University and we are gung-ho about it. The invite is for the film-maker as well as the lead actor so naturally I’m expecting Ash to travel with me.

I have to speak on the process of film-making and about the subject of my movie. Aishwarya naturally will also deliver her speech on women’s rights, domestic abuse and the points which my movie has stressed. She will also reveal her experiences of working in the film too.”

He adds, “I made the film in 2006 and even after two years, it is finding more audiences. This is a very satisfying feeling. The film is a starkly realistic take on how women who settle abroad after their marriage are every day beaten by their husbands.

It is a known reality and a widespread one. I’m happy that my film on this social vice has gained acceptance and now has earned me a platform to speak about it. Provoked has also got an invitation from the Norway Film Festival and I will try to take the entire star cast (including Ash) along with me there too.”
