- Former Miss World and Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan graced an international annual sports event of the World’s Bunt Sports Meet in Powai as the chief guest and was accompanied by her husband Abhishek Bachchan and mother Vrinda Rai on the occassion. Aishwarya belongs to the Shetty community known as Bunts. Bunt or Tulunad Kshatriya is a Hindu community that belongs to the region of Tulu Nadu in the southwestern part of the country including the districts of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada in Karnataka. The Bunts Sangh has been taking the initiative in bringing Bunts all across the world together by organizing sports meet annually, at the S M Shetty Institute in Powai. This year witnessed about 5000 Bunts settled in different countries participating in the event.

Aish dressed in a black and gold anarkali dress looked stunning while hubby Abhishek looked equally dashing in a black and white suit. The couple marked the opening of the event by lighting the traditional lamp. Despite the presence of other celebrities like Poonam Jhawar, film maker Rohit Shetty, cricketer Javagal Srinath, CID super cop Daya Shetty, all from the Bunt community, the Bachchan couple was the center of attraction.

“We Love belonging. We are family and it’s a pleasure being supportive and sharing such special moments. So, thank you so much for making it as memorial for us, for all your love and blessings,” said Aishwarya as she bonded with her fellow community members. The evening was enjoyable for all present as Aish and Abhi interacted with the audiences in the Tulu language.

The 37-year-old Bachchan bahu belongs to the Shetty community known as Bunts. Aishwarya was accompanied by her ever doting husband Abhishek Bachchan to the World Bunts Sports Meet 2010.

Aishwarya’s voluminous anarkali kurta had oversized paisley pattern on the skirt and red and black floral print velvet long sleeves. She paired it with a black polka dot churidar and a black and gold net dupatta, neatly draped across her neck.

She accessorized with black sandals, drop earrings, diamond bangles in both her arms and multiple rings on both her hands.

Her hair, colored reddish brown, was styled with signature bottom curls and a deep side parting. She wore neutral lip gloss and winged eyeliner.

Aishwarya’s penchant for anarkali suits is getting tiresome, but she is too beautiful for us to complain.

Aishwarya and Abhishek greeted community members with a traditional folded hand ‘Namastey.’ Abhishek won hearts when he touched Aishwarya’s mom Vrinda’s feet on stage.

The couple inaugurated the event by lighting a lamp. The two were honored in a traditional style with a silk shawl draped across their shoulders.
