A dialogue mentioning Aishwarya Rai in the promos of upcoming film Lamhaa has caught the attention of many. But producer Bunty Walia and director Rahul Dholakia clarify that it does not mock her.

Veteran actor Anupam Kher, who plays a Kashmiri separatist leader in the film, says in one scene: “When Aishwarya Rai is unable to see the moon, it makes news. But why don t the media report the plight of those thousands of Kashmiri wives who haven t seen their husbands for years?”

This dialogue has raised eyebrows. But Dholakia says: “The dialogue in the film by the separatist leaders uses Mrs. Rai Bachchan as a metaphor to the Bollywood centric media who prefer covering the personal lives of icons and intrude into their private lives, making breaking news, instead of covering the real life poignant stories of Kashmiri half-widows. The comment is not a slur or an attack on the actress in anyway,” Dholakia said.

Sanjay Dutt is taking no chances. In Lamhaa, there is a scene where Anupam Kher (playing a character based on separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani who is known for his volatile dialogue) sarcastically refers to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

This when lashing out at the media for focusing on Bollywood glamour while Kashmir burned. Anupam’s character says, “When Aishwarya Rai is unable to see the moon it makes news. But why doesn’t the media report the plight of those thousands of Kashmiri wives who haven’t seen their husbands for years?”
Director Rahul Dholakia, aware that Anupam is close to the Bachchan parivaar, feared a Big B backlash to this dialogue. So Dutt took the trailer of Lamhaa to the Bachchans and sought their approval for this reference against their bahu. A relieved Dholakia said, “Mr Bachchan understood that Aishwarya’s reference is a metaphor for glamour and celebrity. Also, that dialogue was not born out of thin air. A Kashmiri separatist leader had actually said those words.”

Aishwarya Rai and Lamhaa and the Joke of Taking Permission from Amitabh Bachchan

Aishwarya Rai has nothing to do with the upcoming Bollywood movie Lamhaa. Sanjay Dutt and Bipasha Basu are the two leading characters of the movie. Just Rai’s name was uttered in a dialogue and Sanjay Dutt had to take the clearance from Amitabh Bachchan about the promo of the movie.
There is no hide and seek about the matter that Amitabh Bachchan is very sensitive about his daughter-in-law. The Bachchans were very unhappy with the kissing scene between Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan in Dhoom 2.
Anyway, Lamhaa does not contain anything bad about Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter in law. Just, according to Times of India, there is a dialogue like this:
“When Aishwarya Rai is unable to see the moon it makes news. But why doesn’t the media report the plight of those thousands of Kashmiri wives who haven’t seen their husbands for years?”

While Amar Singh’s closest friends from the industry, Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt, couldn’t make it to Singapore their respective wives more than made up for their husbands’ absence. Bachchan had to cancel his trip at the last minute due to a health scare and Sanjay was denied a visa.

Jaya was with Amar Singh when he went in for the surgery and Sanjay’s wife, Maanyata, joined her later.Aishwarya Rai Bachchan too put her shooting schedule for Shankar’s Robot on hold to be with Bachchan’s closest family friend in his hour of crisis. Jaya Prada also dropped in to wish her mentor good luck.

One of the star wives said, “It had become an all-girls club in Singapore with Jaya Prada also dropping in to meet him (Singh). There was nothing to do there except be present by his side and enquire about his progress. One couldn’t go shopping or sightseeing at a time like this. It was a grim situation but yes, we wives bonded well.”

Will Aishwarya fight Lok Sabha electionWill Aishwarya Rai fight Lok Sabha elections on Samajwadi party ticket? The question has become more intense following the sudden announcement of Sanjay Dutt’s candidature from Lucknow on Samajwadi party ticket.

It seems amazing but unfortunate that a follower of Lohiya, Mulayam Singh Yadav has started running behind Bollywood stars, even tainted ones in order to win some Parliamentary seats.

It is not just an issue of Aishwarya Rai. She is a wonderful woman and a great actress, but there are already several Bollywood personalities who anyhow overshadow this Lohiyaite Mulayam Singh Yadav.

There are already two Jayas, Jaya Parda and Jaya Bachchan. Now there will be along list of other stars who will give company to these Bollywood personalities.

Samajwadi party is trying to rope in everyone it seems fit to win election to contest next Lok Sabha elections for it. Just two days ago the party announced the name of Sanjay Dutt as a candidate from Lucknow Lok Sabha seat.

Sanjay Dutt ditches Kangana for Ash

July 18th, 2008

Sanjay Dutt has left Bhushan Kumar of T-Series, the producer of his untitled film opposite Kangana Ranaut, in the lurch after signing a Mani Ratnam film. Ratnam’s film stars Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai in lead roles.

Sanjay had earlier agreed to do the T-Series romantic film starring Kangana, which was to be directed by the duo Vinay Sapru and Radhika Rao. The film was to be shot extensively in USA and India.

While the T-Series production house officials are maintaining that Dutt is still in their project, Dharam Uberoi, business manager of Dutt says, “We are waiting to sort out things; he has not committed himself to the project as yet. T-Series has yet to revert regarding some issues.”

Aishwarya Rai in Mani Ratnam's Next

Sanjay Dutt will replace South superstar Vikram in Mani Ratnam’s Next, which features star couple Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

The film, based on real life characters, is an intense love story, a genre that Mani has not dabbled with in the past. Interestingly, the film pairs Sanjay Dutt and Aishwarya, not Abhishek and Aishwarya, as is widely assumed.

Vikram earlier played lead in Aparichit (2005), the Hindi version of of south film Anniyan (2005).

The sudden change, industry insiders claim, was dictated by the less than stellar showing of Abhishek – Aishwarya starrer Sarkar Raj at the box office.
