Aishwarya Rai: The star of 3 most expensive 2010 films

Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai had an eventful 2010 which saw four of her films getting a release. Though Aishwarya didn’t get the kind of box office response that she deserved, she starred in 3 magnum opuses if money is anything to go by.
For instance, she starred in the film ‘Robot’ or ‘Endhiran’ that was the most expensive film made in India. Made at a cost of over Rs 150 crore it paired Aishwarya up with the South Indian Demi-God Rajinikanth. And this film did a staggering business at box office and at some parts (like Chennai) the theatre owners had to run early morning (3 am) shows to meet the sky-high demand. The only glitch is that Aishwarya was basically a candy floss in that film which was basically a Rajinikanth bonanza.
Apart from ‘Robot’, Aishwarya Rai starred in another expensive film in Mani Ratnam’s ‘Raavan.’ ‘Raavan’ was the 2nd most expensive film of the year and was inspired from the Hindu epic ‘Ramayan.’ However, despite all the hype and hoopla, this ‘Raavan’ was beheaded by critics and audience.
Aishwarya also starred in the 3rd most expensive film of 2010 in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Guzaarish.’ Made at a budget of over Rs 50 crore, this film starring Hrithik Roshan and Ash was heavily appreciated by the critics. The film, indeed, was poetically beautiful with a poignant storyline and masterly cinematography. But unfortunately, ‘Guzaarish’ was a dud at the box office.

According to a source, Ash was advised two to three weeks of bed rest to recuperate completely.

“The fever, combined with exhaustion due to her hectic work schedule, has taken a toll on her health. But she just refused to back out of her pending work commitments,” revealed the source. So, inspite of running a high fever, Ash shot for a magazine cover with hubby Abhishek Bachchan. “Aishwarya really put up a brave front during the shoot. Having Abhishek by her side helped her feel much better. Abhi, on his part, tended to Ash throughout as a dutiful husband,” confirmed another source.

Ex-flames Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan usually try their best to avoid each other, however, at times best efforts goes up in smoke. That’s exactly what happened recently at the 17th Annual Star Screen Awards, when Aishwarya went into the lounge area (hang-out place for celebrity performers) and had to hurriedly come out as her ex Salman was also chilling out there.

However, even after spotting Salman, Ash, well-known for maintaining her composure at all times, quickly got over the initially shock of finding Salman at the lounge and moved out as soon as possible to avoid potentially awkward situation.

Ash and Salman had started dating after meeting on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.’ For two years (1999-2000) everything went well, however, in 2002, the IT couple of Bollywood broke up in midst of lots of controversy and drama.

December 22nd, 2010

2010 was a year that saw the maturing audience preferring content over stars. When small-budget films and intellectual scripts saw thumbs up from the public, some over hyped films were bloopers. Here’s a look at 5 disaster films of 2010:
1. Kites: Riding on huge hype and hoopla, ‘Kites’ came bringing in a smouldering chemistry between Greek God Hrithik and the Mexican curry Barbara, but dearth of a good screenplay made the film lick dust at box office. It was one of the biggest duds of 2010.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan: To Be At The Masala Awards And Her Forthcoming Projects

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has indeed been one of the busiest stars in tinsel town this year. She’s amongst those stars who have really managed to grab the top most slots in tinsel town despite having more flops amongst her releases than hits or even super hits.

Right from the movie Raavan, Ash has been given the thumbs down by the critics and the audiences. The block buster Robot did create an amazing frenzy all over but it was soon over. Then came Action Replayy which did not fare quite well.

Her latest release Guzaarish was also not well received by the audiences though she did receive some appreciation for the matured role of Sophia that she portrayed in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali flick.
