Guess who is bonding big time? It is Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Shabana Azmi! According to our source, Azmi was so impressed with Aishwarya’s performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Guzaarish that the veteran actress saw the film consecutively over two days.
Our source said, “The Bachchans held a special screening of Guzaarish. Besides her parents-in-law who were obviously impressed with Aishwarya’s performance, Shabana Azmi was also moved by the actress’ sensitive and emotional portrayal in the film. In fact, after the show, Amitabh promptly hugged his bahu, while other guests could not stop raving about her.”
Shabana though, went a step further, and made it a point to watch the film for the second time. “Shabana felt that Bhansali has captured the beauty of Aishwarya’s soul in the film. The veteran actress feels that it is one of her better performances.”
Aishwarya and Shabana have shared a warm and cordial relationship for over a decade now. “They have been friends even before she began her career as an actress. And Aishwarya often looked to Shabana for tips on acting. The friendship has only bloomed over the years.”

aishwarya-rai-ever-so-gorAishwarya Rai looked gorgeous holding hands with hunky husband Abhishek Bachchan at the Mumbai airport before the couple jetted off to Macau, China, on June 10 for IIFA.

The airport was abuzz with excitement during the am hours with a huge number of Bollywood personalities leaving for IIFA. Others spotted at the airport included Anil Kapoor, Shabana Azmi, Lara Dutta, Sonam Kapoor, Ritesh Deshmukh, Boman Irani, Arjun Rampal, Sushmita Sen, Zayed Khan and Tanavi Aazmi.

Aishwarya Rai paired a black satin puff sleeve top with dark blue flared jeans. She may have looked hot but she was prepared for the chill of business class jet travel– holding a tan leather jacket. She matched her accessories – tan leather tote and peeptoe platforms.

Her sunglasses rested on her head. Her gorgeous medium brown hair, styled in loose waves with a middle parting, framed her face cascading down the shoulders. She wore glossy pink lipstick, pink blush, cat-eye liner and lots of mascara.

Dev Patel is better than Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai

dev-patel-is-better-than-anil-kapoor-aishwarya-raiWhile we may or may not endorse it, he has beaten the likes of Shabana Azmi, Om Puri, Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and of course the current darling of the West — Freida Pinto — to bag the top spot. No mean achievement for a first-time film actor!

But, while many may rejoice at the fact, is Dev’s win really something to do with his special talent? Or, is his just a case of ‘flavour of the season’? Filmmaker Apoorva Lakhia thinks it is the latter. “These lists are generally compiled not on the basis of calibre, but rather it’s about what’s ‘in’ now. SM has been a huge success, and Dev and Freida have been all over the place. It’s all about clout and recall value. You cannot definitely compare one-film wonders like Freida and Dev to seasoned actors like Shabanaji and Om Puriji,” says the filmmaker.
