Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and southern superstar Rajnikant shared a great rapport on the sets of Shankar’s magnum opus Endhiran, that is set to release soon.

Aishwarya, who plays the lead opposite super star Rajnikant, is so overwhelmed with the actor, that before bidding adieu on the last day of the shoot, she said goodbye to him in a true blue traditional Indian style. Reportedly, the actress touched his feet and sought his blessing. Apparently, she saw a father figure in him.

Endhiran is a forthcoming Tamil science-fiction film directed by S Shankar. The director has previously made superhit films like Gentleman, Kadhalan, Jeans, Boys, Anniyan and Sivaji. The film, starring Rajinikant and Aishwarya in the lead roles, has been made at a cost of Rs 200 crore. Endhiran is expected to be the most expensive film in Indian cinema, surpassing that of the 2009 Bollywood film Blue.

Bollywood is surely a male dominated industry. Actors in their 40s romance with 20 something Bollywood heroines and no one raises an eyebrow, but if any actress gets paired with a hero younger than her tongues start wagging.
Actors continue to enjoy cult status irrespective of their marital status while it has been widely believed that men stop fantasizing about their actresses once she gets married.

Finally, Aishwarya Rai can heave a sigh of relief from all the hectic work schedules she’s been juggling for months. Just days after celebrating her third wedding anniversary with hubby Abhishek Bachchan in the US, the stunner is off to Greece for another break.

Why Greece, you ask? Because Abhishek is going to be shooting his next film ‘Game’, an action thriller, in the country.

“Going to Greece for shooting for my new movie GAME! Great co-stars. Looking forward to it. Thankfully my Mrs. has agreed to come along,” Abhishek recently wrote on Twitter.

For the last one year, Aishwarya has been extremely busy shooting for both the Hindi and Tamil versions of Raavan, apart from Shankar’s sci-fi thriller Endhiran and Vipul Shah’s Action Replayy. Her shoot for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s c is also all but complete though she still has to shoot a song with Akshay Kumar for ‘Action Replayy’.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the gorgeous bahu of Amitabh Bachchan who plays lead in Shankar’s upcoming flick ‘Enthiran: The Robot’ opposite Tamil superstar Rajnikanth, obliged the producer by launching the music of another Tamil production ‘Rettaichuzhi’ in Chennai.

The film is being directed by talented Thamira, while veteran Balchander and Bharathiraaja play pivotal roles in the flick. Aishwarya endeared herself to the audience when she spoke in fluent Tamil amidst her largely English language speech on the occasion. As the film is being produced by Shankar, who had earlier directed her in ‘Jeans’ and presently doing the same in ‘Enthiran’, Aishwarya could not refuse and obliged him with her presence.

However, her stunning beauty and impeccabale manners (she stood on spotting veteran Balchander and others) had the audiences mesmerized throughout the function. She also promised that she would love to watch the movie in leisure. In fact, Aishwarya Rai was in Chennai with her mother Brinda Rai, for the shooting of her upcoming film ‘Enthiran’, which is being made in both Tamil and Hindi languages by Shankar.

Aishwarya to get 6 crore for RobotAishwarya Rai Bachchan (35) is the highest paid Indian film heroine. Still, for her to land an eye watering Rs 6 crore for.

A single film  Shankar’s The Robot  is something. Bonus: she serenades Tamil superstar Rajnikanth. Shankar last directed Rajni in Sivaji.

The Robot is India’s most expensive film to date. It was reportedly budgeted at Rs 128.70 crore but after one schedule in Brazil, the budget was expanded to Rs 150 crore.

That’s when the original producers Ayngaran and Eros  upped and left, leaving the film to the loving care of the Brothers Maran (Sun TV) who were delighted to take over.

Reports have it that with a 27 per cent hike in crew remuneration (most of the technicians are American and have to be paid in dollars) the cost of The Robot or Endhiran, as it is called in Tamil, is set to skyrocket to Rs 165 crore. A new high for Indian cinema.

Devdas, and it stars Hrithik Roshan.

The actress, trapped in the dense forests of Kerala with husband Abhishek for Mani Ratnam’s Raavan, took a call and spoke to BT about it. “We’ve evolved together, grown as individuals and artistes, we’re both similar — totally driven and passionate, the passion is mutually addictive, we don’t meet for months, but every time we meet — we pick up the threads effortlessly,” said Ash about her filmmaker friend.

Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai is elated over bagging the main leads in two mega south Indian projects – Mani Ratnam’s Ravan and Shankar’s Endhiran.

“Shankar had approached me previously to work with him, but it never materialised. Finally, everything landed in place and here we are working together after 10 years,” said Aishwarya on the sets of Ravan.

Tamil superstar Rajinikant, who is playing the male lead in Endhiran, was also very keen to work with Aishwarya and had tried to sign her for his earlier ventures – Padaiyappa and Chandramukhi, but the actress could not spare the dates.

Speaking about Ratnam’s Ravan, in which she once again teams up with her husband Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya said: “I don’t want to reveal much about it. Working with Mani is always a delight. He is a man of perfection. I am lucky to act in his movies again and again.”
