After nearly ten years, international manager Simone Sheffield has officially terminated her relationship with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as her International Representative.

No reason was cited for the split. During their time together, Aishwarya became an international celebrity appearing on the top rated CBS program 60 Minutes, on the cover of Time Magazine, as well as being listed as one of their 100 most influential people in the entertainment world; appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show twice, and starred in the English language productions Bride And Prejudice, Mistress Of Spices, Provoked, The Last Legion co-starring with Oscar winner Colin Firth, and The Pink Panther 2.

Most recently the actress attended her first Academy Awards ceremony this past February. Over the past decade, she also has worked with some of the world’s leading fashion designers including Armani, Gucci, Cavalli and Saab.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is having a great time at the Cannes Film Festival on the French Riviera! The actress has not missed one single Cannes premiere so far! Ever since Ash’s role in the 2009 movie “The Pink Panther 2,” she has been a regular on the Cannes red carpet. Wednesday night the L’Oreal model sizzled in a gorgeous Elie Saab gown at the premiere of Ridley Scott’s “Robin Hood.”
Friday afternoon it was time for a whole new look for the premiere of Oliver Stone’s latest flick, “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.” For the occasion, Ash wore a stunning pink Gucci gown and she took over the red carpet like only this former Miss World can!
And over the weekend the Bollywood beauty was spotted mingling with Hollywood hot shots at the Gucci and Vanity Fair bash at the prestigious Hotel du Cap. The party, thrown in honor of Hollywood movie director Martin Scorsese, was hosted by Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini and Vanity Fair Editor Graydon Carter. And Ash sure was in good company as she hung out with some of the biggest stars in show biz.

1948692_f496She was crowned the most beautiful woman in the world, but only after her performance in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam was she praised for her acting skills as well as her good looks. Films like Devdas, Dhoom2, Guru and Jodhaa Akbar helped establish her firmly in Bollywood. Having worked in international productions like Bride & Prejudice, The Mistress of Spices and The Pink Panther 2, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is also one of the best known Indian faces in Hollywood. Married into the first family of the Hindi film industry, she is looking forward to releases like Raavan and Guzaarish this year, besides endorsing Longines.

What are you reading at the moment?
These days I am only busy reading scripts and nothing else.

If you woke up and found you’d turned into a man, you would…
Well, my approach would definitely be no different than that of most women. I would be very shocked!

She is complimented as being “the most beautiful woman in the world” in the same breath as she is criticized for being a “plastic face who can’t act”. But that doesn’t deter Aishwarya Rai Bachchan much. With big-ticket international projects such as Bride & Prejudice, The Mistress of Spices, The Last Legion and The Pink Panther 2, she has already become the most popular face of Indian cinema globally. Early this year, she was awarded the Padmashree, and was also invited to accept the second-highest Order Of France, Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, which she refused to collect as she didn’t want to leave the bedside of her ailing father. When she made an appearance at Cannes with “hardly recognized” husband Abhishek in tow, it made quite a story back home. But, Ash handled it with elan, having metamorphosed into the perfect bahu, who made the right sounds about pa, ma and hubby. Clearly, a beauty with brains!

Aishwarya Rai – Bollywood’s socialite non-actresses

August 12th, 2009

Aishwarya Rai - Bollywood's socialite non-actresses ONCE THEY had good innings in Bollywood. They were young. They were never actresses but stars. But age caught up with them.

Refusing to give up on Bollywood, although it has given up on them, they try gimmicks to stick on.

Instead of growing up (mentally) and moving on, they simply will remain here by hook or crook. They refuse to hang their boots and welcome the next phase whatever it may be.

With their fewer or non-existent films, they resort to gimmicks to be in limelight. The current trend is to hit the networking circuit hard and be on page three.

This does make news if not careers. Socialising has its own fringe benefits.

Their movies fail big time. Now with hardly anything on their platter, is it anything surprising to find them becoming socialites and on the networking sites.

Babe of the Day: Aishwarya RaiShe is an award-winning actress and model. She has become the face of India’s thriving film hub, Bollywood. She gained notoriety in her homeland after appearing in a Pepsi ad and she was once crowned “Miss World”.

We are talking about Aishwarya Rai, and she can now add the illustrious honor of Babe of the Day to her list of illustrious-ness. Of which, she is amassing quite an impressive body of work (outshined only by her actual body), appearing in over forty Bollywood films. Ms. Rai has yet to make the big leap to the U.S., and we hope the producers of the Bond franchise can remedy that, as she needs to be 007′s next arm candy.

Aishwarya Rai: the face of Bollywood

Rai made her film debut in the 1997 Indian film, Iruvar. Over the next seven years, the actress’ talent and piercing looks grabbed international attention.

In Bend it Like Beckham’s Gurinder Chadha musical ode to Jane Austen and Bollywood — Bride and Prejudice — Rai secured her place as an intercontinental, intensely powerful actress.

As Steve Martin and his Pink Panther series moves past Beyonce, they have found a gem in Indian megastar Aishwarya Rai.SheKnows: Aishwarya, first off, how was working with Steve Martin versus the expectations of what you thought it would be like working with Steve Martin?

Aishwarya Rai: I never expect anything. I prefer to meet a person face to face and take it from there. Steve was warm and generous to work with. He is a true master at his craft — with such ease he became Inspector Jacques Clouseau. Steve was great fun!

First Look: Aishwarya Rai in ‘The Pink Panther 2′

January 17th, 2009
Aishwarya Rai‘s first release this year isn’t a Bollywood film, neither is it a regional film. It is in fact the much awaited Hollywood film ‘The Pink Panther 2′. This sequel to the 2006 successful film ‘The Pink Panther‘ releases across cinemas in the US on Feb 6, 2009. The film is slated to release in India on Feb 20.

In the film, Aishwarya Rai would be seen sharing screen space with Hollywood legends such as Steve Martin, Andy Garcia, Jean Reno, John Cleese and Alfred Molina. ‘The Pink Panther’ series narrates the adventures of bumbling detective Insp. Jacques Clouseau played hilariously by Steve Martin. This time round, he is on a mission to stop a globe-trotting thief who specializes in stealing historic artifacts. Aishwarya’s character in the film is called Sonia.
This is not Aishwarya’s first attempt at being part of a Hollywood film. In fact, the Bollywood beauty and former Miss World is one of the few Indian actresses who has featured in many international productions such as ‘Bride & Prejudice’, ‘The Mistress Of Spices’, ‘Provoked’ and ‘The Last Legion’.
While Ash did manage to get her fair share of attention with some of these films, she would surely be hoping to get even more international fame and worldwide recognition with ‘The Pink Panther 2′.
